William Allen “J.J.” Prichett, Jr. transitioned Monday, April 20, 2020 at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital of Beaumont, TX.

He was born and raised in Port Arthur, TX, where he resided until his health declined in 2017.

William accepted Christ at an early age at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

As an adult, he converted to the Baptist faith at Florida Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dan McDaniel and the late Rev. Walter Jackson, where he continued to worship and serve the Lord.

William Allen “J.J.” Prichett Jr.

“J.J.”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a 1976 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and was a United States Navy Veteran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. and Mary Martin Prichett; grandparents, Floyd and Mary Castille Martin;  a sister, Gwendolyn Gilbeaux, aunts, Mable Ryans and Dorothy Jones; uncles, Floyd, Larry and Robert Martin; and cousins, Kenneth and Terry Martin and Darrell “Too Tall” Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Mary Prichett Stagg (Gonzuella) of Port Arthur, TX, Sharalyn Prichett Thompson of Carthage, TX and Charisma Prichett of Beaumont, TX; three aunts, Brenda Martin-Gipson of Houston, TX, Virginia Martin and Jeanette Martin of Pittsburgh, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Mark Adams officiating. Viewing will be Friday, April 24, 2020 at Gabriel Funeral Home.

William, we cannot begin to describe all the special things you were to us.

Our sweet, humble, caring, loving and funny brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, we will truly miss you.

We’re so happy for you to be with the Lord, free from suffering and pain, but oh how it hurts us to let you go. But God knows best. Your family and friends love you William and celebrate your homegoing.
