The Port Arthur Health Department on Sunday confirmed two more positive cases of coronavirus, raising the city’s total of confirmed cases to 33.

The residents in both cases Sunday are female, one between ages 20-25 and the other between 50-55. The city has not named either patient, citing confidentiality reasons.

The PAHD said that epidemiological investigators and public health staff will perform investigations and surveillance on the patients, as well as identify individuals who potentially were associated with these cases. Those identified to be at possible risk of exposure or infection will be contacted for further case investigation.

To date, the PAHD has counted 52 confirmed coronavirus cases in the four cities it serves — Port Arthur, Port Neches, Nederland and Groves. Nederland and Groves each has seven cases and Port Neches five. The number of cases for both male and female genders is 26.

The age group with the highest number of cases is 41-50, with 18 cases. There were 10 confirmed cases between the ages of 61-70 — those 65 and older are said to be at a higher risk for coronavirus — and seven cases between the ages of 31-40.

Port Arthur has confirmed two of the 10 deaths in Jefferson County.
