Port Arthur COVID-19 cases jump 15%; Groves & Nederland add to total

COVID-19’s impact in Jefferson County spiked in the past 24 hours with health officials reporting two additional deaths and significant jumps in confirmed positive cases for Port Arthur.
The Southeast Texas Regional Emergency Operations Center noted there have now been seven coronavirus-related deaths in Beaumont, up from five on Thursday.
Locally, Port Arthur now has 30 confirmed positive cases, as compared to 26 on Thursday, a jump of more than 15 percent.
Cases in Port Neches stayed flat at five.
Groves bumped from six to seven cases in the last 24 hours, with Nederland again reporting one more case than the Emergency Operations Center, noting there have been eight positive cases in the city.
Those experiencing cough, shortness of breath or fever are asked call 409-550-2536 for an appointment to be tested for COVID-19.
