NEDERLAND — There is some confusion in the amount of positive COVID-19 cases reported in Nederland.

On Wednesday evening, the Jefferson County Covid-19 Daily Report from Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick said there were six cases in Nederland.

However, on Wednesday afternoon, Nederland officials announced the city’s total positive test results increased to seven.

“Let’s continue to practice SOCIAL DISTANCING and adhering to the Governor’s Executive Orders on essential and non-essential services and business, as well as CDC recommendations,” a City of Nederland statement read.

Nederland officials said 105 local residents have been tested with 19 people still waiting on their results.

The Southeast Texas Regional Emergency Operations Center indicated COVID-19 cases in Port Arthur sit at 25, Groves at six and Port Neches at five — the same numbers reported Tuesday evening.

Health officials ask those experiencing cough, shortness of breath or fever to call 409-550-2536 for an appointment to be tested for COVID-19. The Call Center will close each night from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m.

“If you call during this time, you will be directed to leave a message with your name and phone number,” according to the Call Center. “Someone will call you the next morning to schedule an appointment for testing. If you feel like it’s an emergency, please hang up and call 911 immediately.”

The Call Center said 121 calls were received Wednesday.
