John C. Buchanan, 71, of Port Arthur TX, passed away on April 9th, 2020.

John was born in Port Arthur to Jack & Dorothy Buchanan on December 26th, 1948.

He graduated from Stephen F. Austin HS in Port Acres.

After school, he joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam.

Upon returning home, he worked for the city of Port Arthur for more than 20 years, then served as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan.

John and his wife loved to travel and visited Greece, Egypt, Scotland, and Ireland.

He was a master mechanic and enjoyed raising pit bulls.

John is preceded in death by his parents, brother Maxie Buchanan and two grandsons.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Kathy Shivley Buchanan, sons John M. Buchanan and wife Shawna of Port Neches, Brian Buchanan of Port Arthur and Jacob Buchanan and wife Janell of Nederland, and daughter Gena Dale and husband Adam of Nederland, brothers Jack Buchanan and wife Judy of Port Acres and David Buchanan and wife Peggy of Wildwood, sisters Dorothy Buchanan Theriot of Johnson City and Sandra Buchanan Stowers of Nacogdoches, along with 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
