There were more than 529,000 page views on panews.com for the month of March, and we’re on pace for more in April.

Our community’s collective concern with the increasing impacts of COVID-19 and the daily coverage provided by The News has led to unprecedented local consumption of community journalism.

Since the summer of 2019, The News has hyperfocused its efforts by using 100 percent of our editorial resources to cover Port Arthur, Nederland, Port Neches and Groves.

Port Arthur and Mid-County are large enough to demand a dedicated news organization that doesn’t use resources in other communities.

We’ve answered that call by maintaining our print product, expanding the breadth of panews.com and flooding social media pages with local content.

The readership spike we saw before the COVID-19 crisis proved there is a healthy appetite for local coverage.

It’s because of such that we know the COVID-19 crisis doesn’t define us.

The News is now halfway through our four-part series running each Saturday in April highlighting the people and organizations leading this region to greater things. We call it “2020 Vision For Success,” and it continues this Saturday with our “Us” section.

We’re very proud of it, and we think you will be too. Please, check it out. The first two editions can be viewed at panews.com under the “Special Sections” tab at the top of the page.

Print copies are available at our office, 2349 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur.
