PAPD: Robber pushes way into apartment, shoots victim

A 33-year-old man is recovering from a non-life threating gunshot wound during a aggravated robbery and shooting at Louis Manor Apartments Thursday night.

Port Arthur Police were called at approximately 10:30 p.m. to the apartments at 1300 Joe Louis and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his calf area, according to information from PAPD.

Det. Sadie Guedry said the victim answered a knock at his door, and an unknown man pushed his way inside. Details such as suspect description and how the shooting occurred were not available Friday afternoon as the investigation is fluid.

Police are also not saying how many shots were fired.

The victim was brought to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment. His condition was not available on Friday, and the suspect remains at large.

PAPD’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photographically document the crime scene and collect evidence, and detectives responded to conduct interviews of the victim and witnesses.

The criminal investigation division is handling the case.
