The Southeast Texas Regional Emergency Operations Center on Monday evening issued a statement for those who have undergone tests for coronavirus and are awaiting results:

“If a person has been tested for COVID-19, they are to assume their test will come back as positive and quarantine until they are told otherwise,” the statement reads. “We have received information that individuals are being tested, exhibiting symptoms, and then communicating to others that they plan to report to work or continue to be active in the community.”

The statement comes on the same day the city of Port Arthur announced its first death due to COVID-19. Jefferson County now has 78 confirmed cases and three deaths.
