In almost any other week, Jeff Johnson of Washington, Louisiana, would have drawn top billing in today’s column for his ace on Babe Zaharias’ 15th hole. Thanks to Kane Segura, the 134-yard 9-iron he sank last Tuesday has to play second fiddle.

In the Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Zaharias, the team of Bob West, Rusty Hicks, Larry Reece and Pete Reobroi won the front with minus-1. On the back, the foursome of Cap Hollier, Ted Freeman, John LeBlanc and Bobby Kimball prevailed at minus-4.

LeBlanc pulled off the biggest shot for his team, sinking a bump-and-run pitching wedge from 75 yards for an eagle-2 on 14. He followed up by hitting the pin on his tee shot at 15, then sinking a short putt for birdie …

In the Saturday Super Senior 2-ball at Zaharias, the team of James Shipley, Gary Fontenot, John Jessen and Randy Trahan won the front with minus-1. There was a three-way tie at minus-1 on the back between teams captained by Ron LaSalle, Gary Hanan and James Musgrove …

Birdies were plentiful in the Friday 2-ball at Zaharias as the team of Mullins, Don MacNeil, Hicks and Dwayne Benoit claimed the front with minus six. The foursome of Kenny Robbins, Randy Monk, Jessen and Wes McDonald went that one better with minus-7 on the back …

The Wednesday Zaharias Dogfight was played in an all-points-count format. Winning with 31 points was the team of Doug LeBlanc, Bryan Grant, Dan Flood and Dillard Darbonne. Second with 25 points was the team of Joe Gongora, Hicks, Larry Johnson and Gerald Huebel.

Closest to the pin winners were Hicks (No. 2, No. 12) and Gongora (No. 15).
