The Sabine Pass Independent School District will extend its spring break by another week to allow students to “self-quarantine” following their travels.
In a letter posted on its website Sunday, the district writes that administration are working on an action plan for classes to resume March 23.
“As we all know this has been an incredibly challenging time for SPISD administration,” the letter begins. “We have been tracking new developments in the state and area over the last few days. After much consideration SPISD is choosing to extend Spring Break until March 23, 2020. The extension will allow students to self-quarantine after their spring break travels and activities. SPISD will continue to monitor and evaluate the public health situation prior to re-opening. The district will communicate any updates through social media and our district webpage.
“All extracurricular activities will be postponed until further notice. We are working closely with our faculty/staff to create a plan to provide educational opportunities for our students. The district administration will continue to meet and develop an action plan for our return on March 23rd. Should we need to change our school academic calendar, we will communicate the changes over the next few weeks.
“The district apologies for the delayed notice and inconvenience this dilemma has created. Please continue to visit the SPISD website for useful resources and updates.”
