An area man has been arrested for murder, a week after authorities discovered human remains at an Orange County property.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division detectives obtained an arrest warrant Tuesday for Ronny Lee Carey Jr., 37, for murder.

Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Ryan Michael Sullivan.

Captain Cliff Hargrave said the suspect was in custody for an unrelated aggravated assault charge and arraigned Wednesday by Judge Chad Jenkins.

Carey’s new bond was set at $1 million.

The criminal investigation division initiated its investigation Jan. 24 based upon a tip received by a patrol deputy.

The investigation led to a search warrant executed Jan. 27 at a residence on FM 1136 in Orange County.

The search of the property continued through Jan. 29, at which time police announced human remains had been recovered from the property.
