Chet Garner, The Daytripper host and Groves native, brought his filming crew to Port Arthur in November to visit places like The Boudain Hut, Museum of the Gulf Coast, the Seawall, Sabine Pass Battleground, Sea Rim State Park and The Schooner.

Garner, who graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1999, happened to visit the area during Mid-County Madness week.

“We go all over the state and show people all they could do if they were to eat, sleep and do if they were to find themselves in … you name the town,” Garner told The News in November when asked about purpose of The Daytripper.

“We’re not really a food show, an outdoors show or a history show. We’re all of that combined.”

The Daytripper is in its 11th season of production.
