Bond is set at $750,000 each for Larnell Jray Mosely, 32, and Jeremy Jamall Roy, 30, who are charged in the homicide of Jose Ray Riojas.
The Port Arthur men were arraigned on Friday, according to information from the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. They were arrested Thursday night approximately 24 hours after the fatal shooting of Riojas.
Friends and family of Riojas, 35, started a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs. He leaves behind a wife, Sylvia, and children Freddy Artola Jr., Brandon Riojas, Sofia Riojas, Jose “Ray” Jr. and Jason Riojas.
By midday Friday the account had raised $5,200 of a $10,000 goal.
Police were notified of a shooting at approximately 5:32 p.m. Wednesday in the 4500 block of Sunken Court. When they arrived they found the victim, Riojas, had been shot multiple times. He was brought to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, where he was pronounced dead.
Police worked non-stop while scouring the city interviewing witnesses and received several good tips that led to the arrest of two suspects, PAPD Det. Mike Hebert said during a press conference Thursday at the police station.
The men were arrested in the city but police did not say where. Neither did police divulge a possible motive as investigators were still following leads, Hebert added.
