Pints for Polio set for Jan. 28 at Neches Brewing Company

Spindletop Rotary Club of Beaumont will host Pints for Polio starting at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Neches Brewing Company, 1108 Port Neches Ave., Port Neches.

Pints for Polio is a fundraiser for the End Polio Now campaign sponsored by Rotary International.

“Live music will be provided by J. Wesley Hardin and Silas Feemster. Food, auction and raffle items will add to the fun,” said Rene Latiolais, Spindletop Rotary president. “Last year, this event was very well received, and we are inviting the public to join us again this year.

“It’s a great way to spend an evening with family and friends while raise money for this important cause. The Neches Pub has once again generously agreed to donate a portion of their sales to End Polio Now.”

Rotary International has been working to eradicate polio worldwide since 1979. As a founding member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary has reduced polio cases by 99.9 % since the first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines.

In 2019, there were 94 cases of wild poliovirus reported, up from 33 cases in 2018. Polio exists in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria.

Spindletop Rotary meets each Tuesday at noon at the Holiday Inn on Walden, the mission being to promote diverse community involvement in a welcoming and supportive environment.
