James “Bob” Robert Carlton Jr., 82, of Groves passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
He was born on August 10, 1937 to his parents, James Robert Carlton, Sr. and Opal Britian Carlton in Liberty, Texas.
Bob was a resident of the area for most of his life.
He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1955 and Lamar University in Beaumont.
Bob served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and the reserves from 1960-1963 as a Airman 1st Class.
He worked for Flanagan Shipping as a shipping agent for over 20 years, then Gulf Ocean for 15 years.
He also worked at Lamar Institute of Technology as a courier.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 54 years, Carlene Ann Carlton.
Bob is survived by his son, James Michael Carlton of Groves, his two sisters, Jackie Foreman and husband, Frank of Call, Texas, Darlene Harvey and husband, Tommy of Groves, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 10:00 AM till 11:00 at Clayton Thompson Funeral home in Groves.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
