A Port Arthur man who went viral for a video showing him licking ice cream and placing the container back in the refrigerated section of a store pled guilty to a class A misdemeanor criminal mischief charge on Wednesday.

D’Adrien Anderson, 24, reportedly bought the ice cream he was shown with and presented police with the receipt when the incident originally occurred in August.

An official with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Anderson was seen in Judge Terrance Holmes’ Court at Law Two and provided the guilty plea.

His next court date is March 4, at which time he will be sentenced.

The Port Arthur News received the video in August taken from the unnamed man’s Facebook page. Under the video was “Happy national soft ice cream day lmao #viral.”

Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said they learned about it when someone reached out to one of the officers.

The officer was sent to the store and had confirmation of the incident. The young man and his parent met with the officer at Walmart on Twin City Highway, where they brought the receipt, which matched the time of the incident.

Anderson was arrested at a later date and Walmart ended up throwing away all of its Blue Bell Ice Cream as a precaution.
