Port Arthur pedestrian hit by truck Sunday night

GROVES — A Port Arthur woman suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a truck Sunday night while walking, authorities said.

The auto-pedestrian crash in the 2600 Block of Twin City Highway took place at 8:30 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Sgt. Stephanie Davis said the initial crash investigation indicates a 2014 Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on Twin City Highway. At the same time, a pedestrian, 48-year-old Laura Segura, was attempting to cross Twin City Highway when she was struck by the pickup truck.

The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Luis Cheveresrivera of Louisiana, was not injured.

Police said Segura was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation and there are no additional details available at this time, Davis announced Monday at 6:30 a.m.
