Know your trash pickup holiday changes in PA, Mid-County

Ribbons, wrapping paper, tape and tinsel will begin filling the corners of houses all around town as presents are wrapped and unwrapped for the Christmas holiday.

That means you need to know when and where to throw it all out.

The City of Port Arthur residential waste collection times for Christmas 2019 include regular pick up Dec. 23 and 24 with no pick-up Christmas Day (Wednesday). The Thursday following Christmas will include a Wednesday route pick up and Friday will follow a Thursday route pick up.

New Year’s 2020 will follow the same schedule with regular pick-up Dec. 30-31, no pickup New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). The Thursday following New Year’s will follow a Wednesday route pick up and Friday will follow a Thursday route pick up.

PORT NECHES

The City of Port Neches regularly collects trash Tuesdays and Fridays.

There will be no pick up on Christmas Eve (Tuesday). Thursday and Friday pick up after Christmas Day will resume as normal.

The week of Dec. 31-Jan. 3 will have an all-household garbage two-day pickup as routine on Tuesday and Friday.

GROVES

The City of Groves will have normal pick up Dec. 23, skipping Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Thursday (Dec. 26) will resume with Tuesday’s route and Friday (Dec. 27), picking up Wednesday’s and Thursday’s routes.

Normal operations will resume for Dec. 30 and 31, skipping New Year’s Day. Jan. 2 will pickup Wednesday’s route and Jan. 3 will pickup Thursday’s route.

NEDERLAND

The City of Nederland regularly collects waste on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. When a collection day falls on a holiday observed by the city, garbage is picked up the next day.

There will be no pickup on Christmas (Wednesday). Wednesday’s garbage route will be picked up Thursday (Dec. 26) and Thursday’s route will be picked up Friday (Dec. 27)

There will be no pickup New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). Wednesday’s garbage route will be picked up Thursday (Jan. 2) and Thursday’s route will be picked up Friday (Jan. 3).
