Family Food Mart held up at gunpoint; shots fired at occupied home

An armed robbery and gunshots fired at an occupied dwelling kept the Criminal Investigation Division of the Port Arthur Police Department Monday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the Family Food Mart, 2735 7th Street, at 6:33 p.m. Monday in reference to a robbery that occurred.

Officers discovered the clerk had been held at gunpoint and an undetermined amount of money was stolen.

Additional officers arrived and checked the area extensively; however, they were not able to locate a suspect.

Police did not immediately release suspect information.

In a separate case, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of South Park in reference to a suspicious person at 6:27 p.m. Monday.

A short time later dispatch advised several shots had been fired at that location.

When police arrived, evidence was recovered indicating an unknown suspect fired shots in the direction of the occupied residence.

There were no injuries, police said.
