GROVES — A Frosty Frenzy is set to hit Carpenter’s Way Church in Groves on Sunday.

And while snow isn’t expected there will be plenty of family fun during the event set for 4 to 6 p.m. at 5220 Monroe Blvd. in Groves.

Jesse Lofton, associate pastor, said the event would also minister to the spirit.

“Jesus said ‘come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest,’” Lofton said. “For the single mother with three children, she can rest.

“The church’s mission is about influencing the community with grace. By presenting a light-hearted fun event, this can perhaps ease peoples’ minds.”

Matt Meaux, children’s minister, said this is first and foremost the holiday season and for him, spiritually, taking care of the community with the event is part of that mission.

This marks the church’s fifth year hosting Frosty Frenzy, which gets bigger and better each year.

There will be bounce houses, a photo booth with a free print, cotton candy, hotdogs, snow cones, a petting zoo, Candy Land games, rain rides and a rumored visit from Santa.

Carpenter’s Way Church is located at 5220 Monroe Blvd. in Groves.

The event originated as a fall festival but through the years there had been bad weather and even a cancelation. Church leaders realized there were many other churches offering fall festivals and that, coupled with the unpredictable weather, led to Frosty Frenzy.

There are still some elements of a fall festival tweaked to fit the season – instead of a trunk-or-treat; there will be Candy Land games, Meaux said.

The event is usually well attended. In 2017 there were more than 600 and an estimated 1,100 people in attendance.

Carpenter’s Way Church is a non-denominational church with a mission to “influence our community with the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.”
