Frances Holloman Messina

Frances Holloman Messina, 92, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at Magnolia Manor in Groves, Texas.

“Thank You” to the wonderful staff of nurses and aides who treated her with such kindness and love thus
making her journey home so much easier.

Frances was born on February 12, 1927 in Cameron, Texas to Mary (Cozart) and Robert Norman Holloman.

She was the third of four Holloman sisters.

Frances was raised in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School Class of 1945.

After graduation, she worked in various jobs, mainly, for years as a Dental Assistant to Dr. Paul Colletti, which she loved.

Frances was also a lifelong member of the Park Central Church of Christ and active in the Ladies Bible Class and Caring Sisters.

She enjoyed doing things at church with all her lifelong lady friends.

Frances was a member of the Port Arthur Garden Club and, along with her husband, Sam, very active in the Port Arthur Italian Club.

She and Sam had a wonderful life together, traveling and on the go to football games with family and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sam Frank Messina, only granddaughter, Ashley Marie Yancey, her sisters, Annette Terrell and Norman Gonzales, niece, Carrie Stout Robert, and nephews, Danny Woods and Jake F. Messina, Jr.  What a reunion they are having!

Frances is survived by her daughter, Sheila Yancey and her husband, Tommie Yancey of Port Neches, her younger sister, Mayme Fredrick, Spring, Texas, and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her nephews, Wilson Yancey, Jr., Jerome Gonzales II, Byron Terrell, Norman Terrell, Gary Terrell, Miles Terrell, David Terrell, Bobby Woods, Larry Woods, Mark Yeary, Frank L. Messina, Frank G. Messina, Joseph Messina, Vincent Messina, Jude Messina, Tom Messina and James Michael Messina.

Visitation will be Friday, November 15, from 1-2 pm and Funeral Service at 2 pm.
