Free legal advice for veterans offered this week

BEAUMONT — The Jefferson County Bar Association is offering free legal advice appointments to military veterans and spouses of deceased veterans from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1085 Pearl St. in Beaumont.

Appointments are required; veterans needing legal advice must schedule an appointment to visit with a volunteer attorney.

Any Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Liberty or Chambers County veteran or spouse of a deceased veteran is eligible to receive individualized legal advice from a volunteer attorney FREE of charge in a variety of law areas.

Veterans are invited to ask about family law, wills and probate, consumer issues, landlord/tenant law, bankruptcy, employment, foreclosures, and veterans’ benefits and disability claims.

Those who need continued legal representation and who qualify for legal aid may be assigned a pro bono attorney.

The event is a public service of the Jefferson County Bar Association, and the Texas Access to Justice Foundation provides support to this program.
