DuGood Marketing and Communications Director Rebecca Schexnyder said the company is happy to finally be settling in the heart of the city.

“Our credit union actually started in Nederland,” she said. “We had a branch off of Twin City Highway for a long time but we wanted to offer a more convenient location closer to where people are living, working and doing their daily activities.”

DuGood Federal Credit Union services the Southeast Texas community from Jefferson County to Jasper County in all areas of financial aspects.

The Southeast Texas Veteran’s Color Guard assisted in raising the United States and Texas flag.

“We can help with anything from savings to checking, loans, mobile tech products like remote check deposit, online banking and more,” Schexnyder said. “We just want to help people through their different life stages. We want to take finances and make it as easy as possible for people.”

Offering students in high school and college scholarship rewards is one of the ways Schexnyder said DuGood services the community in a unique way.

“We offer a lot for students,” she said. “Whenever a student opens a checking account, they can actually earn money that they can use all the way through college.”

Schexnyder said local service is also what makes DuGood distinctive.

“We don’t send our loans away to be approved by someone else,” she said. “They are approved here, looked at here and serviced here. You’ll know that DuGood people are helping you from start to finish.”

DuGood FCU CEO Jada Kelley said giving back is also one of the most important qualities that keep her branches running.

“We have a DuGood by giving campaign where we give portions of new accounts and loans back to charities,” she said. “We also volunteer lots of hours. Our staff picks something every quarter, and we get really involved with helping the community in any kind of event that’s going on.

“Each branch also picks a family that may be going through cancer or bad times and we donate to that family. We just really believe in what our name says and try to do good.”

The Nederland location is celebrating the grand opening all week with service, business and member appreciation days Tuesday through Thursday and a Mid-County Madness tailgate party to wrap it up Friday.

“We are going to have a couple big giveaways that are going on,” Schexnyder said. “One of them is $500 that someone can use toward their Thanksgiving dinner and also a $1,500 grand prize. Member or not, you can come by any branch and enter to win.

“Friday, we are going to have a Mid-County Madness tailgate party. Here, and our Port Neches branch, will have drinks, wings and the radio will be out here. It’s going to be really fun.”
