BOYS BASKETBALL PREVIEW: Bob Hope School

It will take dedication and determination to get a good season this year for the Eagles, according to Lyndon Gilford.

“Hard work throughout practices and smart play throughout games, as well as making the right smart plays, plus having great basketball IQ” is what it’s going to take this year, Gilford said.

The team will be featuring several key players including junior Joseph Ortiz (5-11), senior Aidyn Green (6-5), senior Ernesto Alvarez (5-10), freshman Ethan Airiavbere (6-2), senior John Vazquez (5-11), sophomore Armari Reese (5-10), junior Yasuel Santiago Diaz (6-0) and senior Jose Martinez (6-3).

Gilford will be counting on his players knowing one another’s skill sets.

“We have been playing year around basketball, whether its during offseason basketball tournaments or spring/summer leagues,” he said. “They have grown to make themselves better along with their teammates.”

He’s looking forward to being better this season.

“From the offseason trainings, play, and just wanting to be better,” he said. “I feel as though we will be a better than last year reflected.”
