Following a tight first set in Port Neches, Nederland proved dominant the rest of a way in a key District 21-5A volleyball tilt.

Nederland took a 27-25, 25-10, 25-19 victory Friday to gain sole possession of second place in the district. Each team went into the match with two losses.

Katie Perez had nine kills, three digs and an ace for the Bulldogs (25-14, 8-2 in 21-5A), who swept the Rock-A-Noos (16-19, 6-3) in Nederland on Oct. 5. Karley McGill added six kills to the win, Hannah Torres and Hannah Hickey each had five kills, Kamren Savarino dished out 26 assists and six digs and Kaylee Adams made 23 digs.

No statistics were available for PNG, which will visit Memorial on Tuesday when Nederland visits Cleveland.

 

Sabine Pass 3, Spurger 1

In Sabine Pass, senior night went the Sharks’ way.

Jamesia Jones’ six aces and five digs led the way in a 25-16, 25-15, 21-25, 25-14 win that improved the Sharks to 17-8 and 9-4 in District 24-2A. Jamesia’s sisters, Charnel and Nevaeh Jones, combined for 15 kills, Yainn Zuniga (seven kills), Joanna Smolsky (three kills) and Brooklyn Dixon each struck four aces, and Kayla Dominick collected five kills.

Sabine Pass will wrap up its regular season Tuesday at Hull-Daisetta.
