NEDERLAND — Mobiloil Credit Union staff and administration cut the ribbon Wednesday on their newly renovated Nederland location two years after Harvey destroyed the original site.

“We are thrilled to be reopened in our current location,” Creative Services Manager Angie Hebert said. “We were open in a location closer to Central Mall but now we have our full drive through and are able to serve customers better.”

The new store features a hardwood walkway, carpeted waiting areas, marbled teller counters, renovated administrative departments and the all-new smart solution offices.

“We have our new smart offices here,” Hebert said. “It’s a new initiative that we started this year. It’s where you can step into an office much quicker, be seen by a representative and get service done quickly. It’s extremely personal, very efficient and private.”

The five smart offices include a wide space where customers can go in, sit down in front of the computer and connect with a live representative from a remote location. Reps can access customers’ online banking to help with problem solutions, help fill out loan forms, apply for credit cards, answer general questions and more.

John Doucet, CEO of Mobiloil Credit Union said he is excited to have his team back in their original location fitted with upgrades and new technology.

“We really lucked out,” he said. “We made it better. We really like the smart offices and there is an even better part coming where you can access a person via your phone.

“You can be in your house or at work and it will be just like you are in the office. That’s coming and we’re excited. We want to have that technology but without losing the human touch.”

The smart-solution offices are a one-of-a-kind system, with Mobiloil Credit Union being the only credit union in the Southeast Texas region to offer these services, officials said.
