Rudy Allen Carlquist, 67, of Nederland passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 25, 1952 to his parents, Jackie Allen Carlquist and Cherry Lee Melancon Carlquist in Port Arthur, Texas.

He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1970.

Rudy was a resident of the area for many years as well as the Lake Charles/Sulphur area.

He retired from WR Grace as a machinist after 20 years of service.

Rudy lived his life to the fullest, he never meet a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandkids.

He had a love for music that included dancing and playing the guitar.

He was a funny, sweet and caring person that will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Beatrice Carlquist, William and Wilda Melancon, his father, Jackie Allen Carlquist, his sister, Gail Elizabeth Graham and his step-father, Ray E. Graham.

Rudy is survived by his mother, Cherry Lee Graham of Port Arthur, and his step-mother, Rita Carlquist of Lafayette, Louisiana, his daughters, Sonya Bickley and husband, Tony of Spring, Texas and Stephanie Ford of Tomball, Texas, his son, Jason Carlquist and wife, Mandie of Lake Charles, Louisiana, his six grandchildren, Alex Lantier, Bethany Ann Guillory and husband, Colby, Tori Faith Carlquist, Caiden Wayne Bickley, Khye Anthony Bickley, Calise Raylen Bickley, along with two great grandchildren, Callen Ray Guillory and Zander Wade Carlquist.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Pamela Lee Johnson of Nederland, Susie Phillip and husband, Chuck of Lafayette, Louisiana, his brothers, Donnie Dell Carlquist and wife, Cookie of Cedar Park, Texas, Kelly Brian Carlquist and wife, Amy of Beaumont, Texas, Mike Bowden and Steve Bowden both of Lafayette, Louisiana and the love of his life, Sharon Carlquist as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 11 AM till Noon at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Service to honor Rudy’s life will be celebrated at Noon Tuesday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
