A day after skidding down the leaderboard in the Safeway Open, Andrew Landry rebounded with the kind of round that put him in position for a top-10 finish on Sunday.
Landry, who had followed a first-day 65 with a 74, posted a solid 69 that left him tied for 14th. The Port Neches-Groves ex had four birdies against a lone bogey but walked away on a downer after missing a birdie putt from 3 feet, 9 inches on the 18th hole.
Landry got rolling early in the round with birdies on No. 3 and No. 4, lost a shot with a bogey at 7, then went back-to-back on birdies again at 16 and 17.
The 69 was probably as high as Landry could have gone. He hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation, but struggled to get the ball in the hole. He was 41st in putts per green in regulation. During his opening 65, Landry finished first in that stat.
