Memorial High School Assistant Principal Dwight Wagner (left) and Port Arthur ISD Superintendent Mark Porterie (center) accept a check from Raising Cane’s Nederland store manager Codey Guidry for $6,000.

The money will go toward the district’s athletic department and was celebrated prior to Sept. 13’s football game between host Memorial and Beaumont United.

Raising Cane’s is giving $2,000 per year for three years to assist students in extracurricular activities to increase academics and self-confidence, Porterie said.
