Landry needs two birdies to remain in Mississippi tourney

When play resumes early Saturday morning in the Sanderson Farms Championship, Andrew Landry knows he’ll need a birdie-birdie finish to avoid missing his second consecutive cut of the 2019-20 PGA Tour season.
Landry, after an opening round of three-under-par 69 over the Country Club of Jackson was two over through 16 holes when darkness suspended play Friday afternoon. With the cut projected at minus-3, his first shot Saturday will be an 18-foot birdie putt on the 17th green.
The Port Neches-Groves ex will need to roll that one in, then birdie 18 to stick around for the rest of the weekend. He put himself in that situation by making only one birdie against three bogeys in the 16 holes he played Friday.
News was much better for Lamar ex Shawn Stefani. After an opening 72, Stefani roared back with a sizzling 65 that left him only three shots off the lead of Byeong Hun An.
