Horace N. “Papa Jack” Maxwell Sr., 96, of Beauxart Garden, passed away, Monday, September 16, 2019 at his residence.

Jack was born on April 20, 1923 in Rochelle, Louisiana to the late Horace Maxwell and Malissa Autry Maxwell.

He retired as a Chief Engineer on the Texaco Marine Tankers with 40 years of service.

He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Port Arthur.

Jack is survived by his sons, Horace N. “Jacky” Maxwell, Jr. and his wife Melodie of Anchorage, Alaska, and Leslie Maxwell and his wife Kay of Nederland; his grandchildren, Cindy Redding, Penelope Denny,
Stephanie Lindsey, Jeremy Maxwell, Kerri Vega, and Doug Maxwell; also 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille Young Maxwell; also his son, Douglas Maxwell; and his sisters, Rachel Ladd and Edith Miles.

A gathering of the family and friends will be on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with his funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Port Arthur with Rev. Kaleb Rule officiant.

His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
