Nicole Turvey, center, development director with the Muscular Dystrophy Association Greater Beaumont Region, holds a check for $15,010 that was collected by the Port Arthur Fire Department and Port Arthur Professional Fire Fighters Association at PAFD No. 1 on Thursday. This is a near record amount and almost double what was collected in 2018 as the community worked to recover from Hurricane Harvey. Turvey said MDA is grateful for their dedication and “for the generosity of those in the Port Arthur community who have helped to raise critical funds to help transform the lives of kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle debilitating diseases.”
