Mary Flowers

Mary Flowers, 89, of Orange, passed away on September 3, 2019, at Rose Place in Port Arthur, Texas.

She was born to the late Henry and Myrtle Martin, April 8, 1930, in Ringgold, Louisiana.

Mary graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948.

She married the late William Flowers in 1948, and they lived in the Bridge City / Orange area for 71 years.

Mary is survived by three children: Jim Flowers, of Lake Charles, LA; Margaret Robinson, of Orangefield, TX; and Lisa Jernigan of Euless, TX.

She is survived by twelve grandchildren: Bryan Robinson, Marla Robinson Protic, Shelley Flowers Molina, Angie McChesney Dunn, Jason Flowers, Emily Bayless, Gary Flowers, Jr., Sarah Jernigan Lonsbury, Ben Jernigan, Will Thibodeaux, Chris Archer, and Jimmy Archer.

Mary is also survived by a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband William Flowers in 2006, daughter Cathy Bayless in 2007, and son Gary Flowers in 2015.

Mary was a very special part of each life she touched, and to many (whether grandchildren or not) she was affectionally known as “Granny.”

She was a sterling example of a Christian woman who lived by Godly principals. She instilled goodness in her children and grandchildren.

Mary was a faithful member of Winfree Baptist Church in Orange, Texas, for many years and loved her church family.

She was a very generous, loving, and kind soul and will be dearly missed by each person who knew her.

Mary had a saying, “We are strong Flowers women.”

Mary endured some health struggles the last year of her life, but through it all, she definitely was a strong Flowers woman. Our “Granny” will be forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019, from 5 PM to 8 PM  at Winfree Baptist Church, Highway 62, Orange, TX.

The funeral will be held at Winfree Baptist Church on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 1 PM.

The burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Hillcrest Cemetery, Orange, TX.
