PORT NECHES — Not one but two accidental discharges of a weapon — including one where a juvenile was grazed by a bullet — happened in a Port Neches home on Monday.

Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said three juveniles, two of whom were handling a gun, were in a room in a home in the 2200 block of 4th Street around 4:20 p.m. when the gun accidentally discharged and grazed one of the juveniles in the head.

An adult was in the home at the time and after hearing the shot, went to check on the situation, and grabbed the weapon.

“The dad tried to make the gun safe and another round was fired,” Lemoine said.

The gun is not the adult’s gun.

A 911 call was made from the house but Lemoine did not know who made the call.

The juvenile was not seriously injured.
