A 57-year-old woman is behind bars for reportedly stabbing a man in the arm and shoulder Thursday afternoon.

Port Arthur police identified the woman as Carla Lynn Taylor. An employee with the Jefferson County Correctional Facility said bond is set at $30,000 for the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The arrest follows a confrontation that occurred at approximately 2:28 p.m. near B.J.’s corner store, 1201 Seventh St., according to a news release from the PAPD.

When officers arrived they learned a dispute took place between the suspect and victim and the suspect began cutting the victim. He received a large laceration to the arm and a puncture wound to the shoulder.

He was brought to a local hospital for treatment and later taken to a Houston hospital, Det. Sadie Guedry said.

Guedry added that the two people are acquaintances and the stabbing occurred in the grassy field next to the store.

PAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case.

Just over a week ago, on Aug. 19, police arrested Brandon Lamar Jones for robbery and possession of a controlled substance after he reportedly assaulted a person during a purse snatching near the same location.
