Just a few days earlier, Sabine Pass swept Lighthouse Homeschool Association at home.

As Tuesday’s rematch proved, playing on the road isn’t all that easy.

Sabine Pass overcame a close first-set defeat to beat Lighthouse 23-25, 25-20, 25-10, 20-25, 15-5 at Ridgewood Church on Lake Arthur Drive in Port Arthur. The win improved the Sharks’ record to 7-3.

Sweeny 3, Nederland 2

A five-set match on the road did not help Nederland (9-10) get over the .500 win percentage Tuesday.

Sweeny took a 14-25, 25-11, 25-23, 19-25, 17-15 victory. It was Nederland’s second five-set contest in eight days, having beaten Little Cypress-Mauriceville, going the distance last Tuesday and defeating Bridge City in four on Friday.

No statistics were available. The Bulldogs will play in the Santa Fe tournament Thursday and Saturday and visit Hamshire-Fannett on Friday.

Huffman 3, PNG 0

Despite 11 kills from Liz Bolyard and 18 assists from Paxton Shults, PNG (7-12) was swept following three close matches at Huffman, 25-21, 25-21, 25-22.

Halley Smith’s 17 digs and Bolyard’s 13 kept the Rock-A-Noos active defensively. Kasidee Sartin and Breeana Riggs combined for 15 digs.

Stansbury scored nine aces, Shults had five and Smith earned a pair for PNG. Stansbury also had four kills, with three apiece for Maylin Louvier and Breeana Riggs.

PNG will compete in the Santa Fe tournament Thursday and Saturday and take off Friday.
