Due to all the rain, golf in Southeast Texas was limited last week. The highlight was Port Neches-Groves ex Braden Bailey placing fourth in the All Pro Tour tournament in Lufkin. Bailey now has two top fives in two APT events and his scores of 70-68-72-67 kept his stroke average in 16 professional rounds under 69.

Two Lamar exes — Dawie van der Walt and Shawn Stefani — have one last shot this week to earn a PGA Tour card for the 2019-20 season. Van der Walt, thanks to an 11th place tie last week in Boise, is tied for 23rd on the money list after two tournaments building toward this week’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship. Stefani, who missed the cut in Boise, is T53.
