PGA TOUR: Andrew Landry clinches Cup playoff spot

Andrew Landry went down to the final putt of the PGA Tour regular season to clinch his spot in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup playoffs Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for Lamar University grad Shawn Stefani, he came up just short.
Landry closed out the Wyndham Classic with a two-under-68, including a 9-foot par putt on the final hole, for a 72-hole total of 266 that left him tied for 19th. That was good enough to elevate him to No. 123 in the FedEx standings.
Stefani, with a final round 68, tied for 22nd at 267, leaving him No. 127 on the FedEx list. He missed being in the top 125 by 2.6 FedEx points. To salvage his PGA Tour card for next year, Stefani will have to participate in the Korn Ferry Tour season-ending tournament and place in the top 25.
J.T Poston roared out of the pack with a 62 to win the Wyndham at 22-under-par 258.
Landry hovered around the 125 mark all day, finally getting on the right side to stay with a short birdie putt on the par-5, 15th. Needing to par the 508-yard, par-4, 18th, he left his second shot 48 feet away in the right fringe, then powered his putt 9-feet past the flag.
Seemingly unfazed, the PNG ex calmly rolled his next putt into the heart of the cup. That earned him a spot alongside fellow former Indian Chris Stroud in the playoff opener at Liberty National in New Jersey. Stroud goes in No. 96 in FedEx points.
Landry had to battle back from an early bogey at the third hole to punch his playoff ticket. Birdies from 3 feet, 4 inches on No. 4, from 13 inches on No. 5 and 8-9 inches on No. 9 got him to 2-under for the day and in good FedEx shape. But a bogey at 11 moved him back on the bubble.
Knowing he needed one more birdie, Landry got it from 2-7 on the par 5, 15th. It was his eighth birdie in eight chances on the par 5s at Sedgefield Country Club and his 19th for the week. That tied for the third most birdies in the field.
After starting the week at No. 132 in the FedEx standings, Landry became one of two players to move into the playoffs after being on the outside looking in. Patton Kizzire jumped from 129 to 118.
