Seven more birdies Saturday ignited Andrew Landry to his second 65 in three days at the Wyndham Classic and left him tied for 10th at 198.

The sizzling round also moved the Port Neches-Groves ex to 120 in FedEx Cup projections.

While Landry climbed inside the top 125 Lamar ex Shawn Stefani, who is fighting to keep his PGA Tour card, kept hope alive. Stefani followed up back-to-back rounds of 66 with a 67 and is tied for 16th at 199. That projects him to 125.

Byeong Hun An, who has led after every round at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, shot 66 and is at 17-under 193. Webb Simpson, after a 65, is one shot back. There is one player at minus-15, three at minus-14 and two at minus-13.

Landry, who shot five-under-par 30 on his outgoing nine, would have posted the low round of the day were it not for a double bogey on the 10th hole. He bounced back with a birdie from 6 feet 10 inches on 11, then rolled in birdie number seven from 28-10 on 15.

The key to Landry’s fifth 65 of the year was a smoking putter. In addition to the near 29 footer on 15, he had makes from 17-11 on 1 and 22-5 on 4. All total he sank 95 feet of birdie putts. His 19 birdies for the week are second most in the field.

Stefani seemed to be on the way to a third consecutive 66, or possibly better, when he stubbed his toe with a bogey 6 on the easy, par-5, 15th. He was 98 feet from the hole in two and took four more to get down. It’s a bogey that could haunt him, depending on how things play out Sunday.
