Two Nederland men are suspected of assaulting a person after forcing their way into a home in the 200 block of Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur on Thursday night.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. and the men fled the scene after the crime, police said.

They were identified, Port Arthur Police Sgt. Shannon Meaux, said, and the department’s Crime Response Team was able to track the men down to a home in Nederland. They were arrested with the assistance of Nederland Police Department for burglary of a habitation.

Not much else was revealed about the crime or the accused men. PAPD Deputy Chief John Owens said detectives were actively investigating the case and he couldn’t comment on what, if anything, was stolen, including whether weapons were used or names of those arrested.

PAPD declined to identify the suspects arrested in this offense due to the sensitivity of the investigation, he said.

Owens said there may be more arrests in the case.
