Congratulations to PN-G ex Braden Bailey for earning his first paycheck as a professional last week in Denver. Bailey rebounded from a shaky opening-round 75 in the Cobank Colorado Open to shoot rounds of 67-69-71 and finish T38 at 282. It earned him a check for $1,092 and had to be a confidence booster.

Next up for Bailey, as he bides time until the Korn Ferry Tour’s version of Q school — is a couple of stops on the All Pro Tour, which used to be known as the Adams Tour. He’ll play in the APT tourney in Natchez, Mississippi Aug. 7-10, then move on to the Southwest Bank Open at Crown Colony in Lufkin. …

Lamar exes MJ Daffue (Class of 2012) and Dawie van der Walt (2004) finished T15 and T23, respectively, in the Korn Ferry Tour tourney in Springfield, Missouri last week. Van der Walt was in the top 10 and challenging for the lead until a closing 75. …

Xander Parks (77-78) and Brody Jeanes (81-74) tied for first place with 155s in Boys 15-18 in the Southeast Texas Junior Tour Bruce Lietzke Classic played Monday and Tuesday at Henry Homberg. The annual tournament was played almost one year to the day (July 28, 2018) of the former Beaumont pro great’s
death from brain cancer.

Other flight winners included Lincoln Parks (167 in Boys 13-14), Ricardo Cardenas (173 in Boys 11-12), Makenna Henry (163 in Girls 15-18) and Annabel Cardenas (181 in Girls 13-14).

Peyton Weems, with a 79, edged Cade Wood by one stroke to win last week’s Southern Texas PGA Junior Tour stop at the Country Club of Texas. Other flight winners included Lincoln Parks (83 in Boys 13-14), Ricardo Cardenas (78 in Boys 11-12), Peyton Beebe (103 in Girls 15-18) and Annabel Cardenas (86 in Girls 13-14). …

In the Monday Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Babe Zaharias, the team of Kenny Robbins, Gary Fontenot, Raymond Darbonne and Larry Foster won the front with minus-6. On the back, the foursome of Ted Freeman, Earl Richard, Kaycee Begaman and Dwayne Benoit won with minus-3. …

The Friday 2-ball at Zaharias saw the team of Bill Hammond, Tony Trevino, Begaman and Foster win the front with minus-4. Taking the back with minus-5 was the team of Bob West, Larry Johnson, Darbonne and Cap Hollier. …

Seventeen points won the Wednesday Zaharias DogFight for the team of Robbins, Rufus Reyes, Jim Schexneider and Tommy Duhon. Placing second with 16 points was the foursome of Gary Hanan, Johnson, Cody Metts and Benoit.

Closest to the pin winners were Adam Noel (No. 2), Schnexider (No. 7, No. 15) and Mike Tibbets (No.12).
