Add 2 more to the list: PAPD investigates Sunday aggravated assault and shooting

Port Arthur police are investigating two violent crimes that happened within an hour or each other Sunday evening.

The first of the two incidents — an aggravated robbery — happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Gilham Circle at Barbara Jacket Park, where a 19-year-old Beaumont woman.

The assailants are also accused of holding a 16-year-old Beaumont male at gunpoint and demanding property from him, according to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department.

After the robbery, the suspects fled on foot.

Det. Mike Hebert said officers identified a suspect and were in the process of locating him Monday at press time.

Other details about the robbery were not available.

The second violent crime — a shooting — took place around 9:40 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Ridge Apartments, 7603 Ninth Ave.

Police arrived on the call of shots fired and found an 18-year-old Port Arthur man shot in his lower extremities. He was brought by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not have additional information on the crime as of Monday afternoon.
