Former Red River Conference freshman of the year Ferontay Banks has transferred from Wiley College to Lamar State College Port Arthur.

Banks, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard, becomes the second Seahawk expected on the 2019-20 roster who prepped at Lafayette (Louisiana) Comeaux High School, following sophomore guard Devaughn Thomas.

Banks played in all 31 of Wiley’s games and started in 22. He set the program record for single-game assists with 14 against LSU-Alexandria and scored a season-best 14 points against LSU-Shreveport. His 4.7 assists per game ranked him 12th in the NAIA and third in the Red River Conference.

At Comeaux, Banks was named All-Acadiana, first-team all-state and District MVP.

Banks is the fourth signee for the upcoming season, joining Huntsville guard Jadun McCarty, Dallas Kimball forward Kenyawn Bowie and Dallas Skyline two-way guard Kantrell Burney.
