Freddie Joe Hawkins Sr. peacefully passed away on July 23, 2019 at the age of 75.

Freddie is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Janet Green Hawkins; children, Renee’ Johnson (Joseph) of Port Arthur, TX, Demetria Hall (Albert, III) of Frisco,TX, Freddie Hawkins Jr. (Martha) of Houston, TX, and Lawana Durisseau Johnson of Garland, TX; sisters, Ethel Pender (Oscar) of Moreno Valley, CA, and Willie Faye Delancy of Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, James Hawkins (Carolyn) and Willie John Fernandez (Althea) of New Orleans, LA; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Green of Port Arthur, TX; brothers-in-law, Cleveland Johnson, Jr. of Moreno Valley, CA, and David Green of Port Arthur, TX; grandchildren, Faith Johnson, Heather Hall, Nicholas Hall, and MerDaysha Fontenette; special friends, James Green, Sr., Gloria Jean Gunner, Terry Holman, Sr., Noelle Green-Anderson, and a host of relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Tezeno; his father, Willie M. Hawkins; sisters, Barbara Johnson and Elaine M. Rush.

Freddie Joe was born on November 30, 1943 in Evergreen, LA to Willie M. Hawkins and Carolyn Tezeno and later moved to Port Arthur, TX.

He was a Master Barber for 55 years and the proud owner of Freddie’s Hair Kutz.

Freddie Joe never met a stranger and loved to talk about sports, politics, and current events.

He was a passionate and loyal fan of the Lincoln Bumblebees, Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Cowboys. Freddie Joe enjoyed good food, concerts, great conversation, and listening to all the jazz greats.

Services for Freddie Joe Hawkins: Funeral service Saturday, July 27, 2019 2:00PM First Sixth Street Baptist Church, 548 Abe Lincoln Ave. Port Arthur, TX 77640. Rev. Thurman Bill Bartie Eulogist and Rev. Kalan Gardner, Pastor.

Visitation is from noon until service time.

Service entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
