3 complete basic training

Three area students recently graduated Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

They three local airmen were:

  • Jonathan J. Scott, son of Joseph Scott of Beaumont. He is a 2018 graduate of Clifton J. Ozen Magnet High School, Beaumont.
  • Brian K. Spikes Jr., son of Stephanie and Brian K. Spikes Sr. of Beaumont. He is brother of Brianna Spikes of Beaumont. The airman is a 2014 graduate of Clifton J. Ozen High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2018 from Louisiana Tech University.

Tara R. Rice, daughter of Howard Rice of Orange. She is a 2013 graduate of Buna High School and earned an associate degree in 2015 from Lamar Institute of Technology.
