BEAUMONT — Lamar women’s basketball head coach Aqua Franklin has announced the signing of transfer Micaela Wilson for the 2019-20 season. Wilson comes to Lamar after spending the last two years at Kansas.

“Micaela is someone that I have spent time with, and I have gotten to know her and her family over the last two years at the University of Kansas,” Franklin remarked. “It was really important to her to get closer to home and give her family the opportunity to watch her play. Micaela is a long, athletic and skilled forward who has the ability to stretch the defense. She will be able to create miss matches on the offensive end with the ability to score from inside and out. She is a steal for the Southland Conference.”

In her two years at Kansas, Wilson (Rayville, Louisiana) appeared in 42 games making one start. During her freshman season, she appeared in 24 games for the Jayhawks. She scored a college career-best 14 points against Yale and posted a double-double (10 rebounds). In the next contest for KU, Wilson recorded her second straight double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) against Delaware State.
