MEN’S BASKETBALL: Nederland’s Kevin Howard, Beaumont’s Mason Senigaur named NJCAA All-Academic

Two Jefferson County products competing at Dodge City (Kansas) Community College were named NJCAA All-Academic first team.

Kevin Howard of Nederland and Mason Senigaur of Beaumont were among three Conquistadors that received All-Academic status. Teammate Gregory Petrakis was placed on the second team.

Howard, a 2017 Nederland High School graduate, averaged 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in his second season, notching a season high of 27 against Pratt (Kansas) Community College on Feb. 20. The 6-foot-8 forward shot 38.6% from the floor and 70.7% in free throws.

Howard graduated with an associate’s degree in May and will attend LSU-Shreveport this fall.

Senigaur, who graduated from Central in 2018, was a 32.5% 3-point shooter and averaged 5.2 points per game as a Dodge City freshman. He reached double-digit scoring five times during the second half of the season, recording a season-high 16 points against Seward County (Kansas) on Jan. 19.

Former Southeast Texas Mavericks and Sam Houston State coach Steve Tucker leads the Conquistadors program with Beaumont native Brock Thewman as an assistant. Dodge City has landed two more Southeast Texans for the 2019-20 season in Port Arthur resident and recent Kelly Catholic graduate Chris May and Silsbee graduate Landyn Tyler.
