Butler (Kansas) Community College pitcher Zach Bravo announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will pass up an opportunity to sign with the Tampa Bay Rays and spend his junior season at Lamar.

Bravo, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound right hander from Albuquerque, New Mexico, went 7-4 with a 4.27 ERA for Butler this past season. He made 14 starts in 17 appearances and struck out 97 in 80 innings.

“I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Rays organization for taking my childhood dream of getting drafted and making it a reality!” Bravo wrote in a Twitter post. “Also, I thank my coaches at Butler Community College for helping me along the way in making this possible! I would also like to thank anyone who has offered guidance and support throughout my life and in these last few weeks. But, after much consideration and talk with my family I have decided that I will not sign with Tampa Bay and I will head to Lamar University for my junior year! I’m excited to see what the future has in store for me! #peckem”
