Interns selected from Lamar University are Aubrie Martin, Mayra Sevilla, Karrie LaCour, Saul Ochoa, Brittany Shifflett, Trinity Morris, Caroline Bridges, Zach Pena, Steve Nguyen and Tyler Moffitt.

“As a part of our career development efforts, BASF finds great value in mentoring local students who are pursuing careers in the chemical industry,” Gregory Masica, vice president and site manager for BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC said. “It is important that students have opportunities to gain valuable work experiences to become the next leaders and innovators in our industry.”

In addition to the summer internship program, BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals supports students by funding scholarships for two chemical engineering students at Lamar University to cover tuition, books and fees. This year, Tyler Moffitt and Andres Villarreyna receive scholarship funding for four years to support their studies from freshman year through graduation.

Moffitt, a Lamar sophomore and a graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, is a summer intern at BASF’s Beaumont site. Villarreyna is a Lamar freshman and valedictorian of Memorial High School in Port Arthur.
