A life-sized robot, some comic book superheroes, fairy tale princesses and a chance to catch a fish are just a few of this year’s entertainment at the upcoming Kid Fest on Saturday.

Touted as the “biggest kid party in town,” Kid Fest is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Carl Parker Multipurpose Center and is presented by iHeartMedia Beaumont and Valero Port Arthur Refinery.

Barbara Phillips, Valero Port Arthur Refinery public affairs manager, said around 3,000 kids and family members attend the event on average.

Phillips said Valero is a big supporter of the community, especially when it comes to children and the event brings educational activities so kids can learn and play.

“Kid Fest has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to provide an enjoyable and memorable day for young people in our community,” she said.

There will be plenty to do while at the event.

Texas Junior Anglers are bringing back Kid Fish and stocking it for the kids to catch and release. Everything needed to catch fish — rod, reel, bait and tackle — will be provided.

There will be a life-sized robot from Robots Extreme, six comic-book superhero favorites from Misfit Studios, and a Fairy Tale Princesses from Gowns on the Town. This year’s entertainment will have interactive shows with audience participation and will be available for photos, according to a press release.

There will be plenty of other fun events for the family, including games, arts and crafts, inflatables, face painting, and an entertainment stage packed with a full schedule of events.

Admission is $3 for children ages 2-12, and $5 for adults 13 and older at the door and is free for children under 2. Free tickets are available while they last at the Valero Corner Store in Groves; McDonald’s locations in Mid-County and Nederland, Groves, Port Arthur, and Bridge City; Philpott Toyota, 2229 US-69 Nederland; and Gulf Coast Health Center, 2548 Memorial Blvd., Port Arthur.
